Starting from humble beginnings as a small bootcamp in Surry Hills, today, we are a national brand on a mission to “Inspire Change” in the Global Fitness Industry.

In March 2023, Fitness Playground became One Playground. This change represents our move beyond just fitness, and aesthetics, to become an all-encompassing Playground for all things health and fitness.

THE ROLE

We’re building internal products and automation tools that power thousands of member interactions every day, including dashboards and reporting, booking systems, and operational workflows.

You’ll work on real production systems used across our network of clubs, contributing to features that directly improve operational efficiency and member experience.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Development & Deployment

• Write clean, reliable code that turns business requirements into working features.

• Contribute to building, testing, and deploying workflows across development and production environments.

• Learn and support our CI/CD processes to ensure smooth, reliable releases.

Maintenance & Improvement

• Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues across applications and integrations.

• Strengthen system performance, stability, and reliability through ongoing improvements.

• Take ownership of your work and see features through from development to production.

Feature Development

• Build new features and enhancements across dashboards, automation tools, and member-facing products used daily across our clubs.

• Contribute to the development and integration of our two custom mobile applications, working alongside our external development partner and internal engineering team.

• Collaborate with senior developers on architecture, implementation, and system design decisions.

Platform & Cloud Exposure

• Gain hands-on experience working with cloud infrastructure, deployment workflows, and structured release processes.

• Support application monitoring and contribute to improving system reliability, uptime, and performance.

• Assist with containerisation and integration across internal systems and mobile applications.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work with internal teams to understand requirements and translate them into clearly defined technical tasks.

• Communicate progress, blockers, and timelines clearly within the engineering team.

• Participate in code reviews and follow structured development processes, including version control and documentation standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Demonstrated hands-on experience building and shipping software (typically 1–3 years in a professional or substantial project setting).

• Experience building applications using Python (backend services, automation, or data workflows).

• Working knowledge of SQL for querying and managing data.

• Experience with React or modern front-end frameworks for building user interfaces.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience developing or integrating with APIs.

• Exposure to AWS (Lambda, EC2, RDS, S3) or other cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with Git-based version control and structured deployment workflows.
